Dr. Betsy Perry Backe is a board certified dermatologist with over six years of experience.
Dr. Backe started her own practice in Valdosta, Georgia in April of 2011, and is the first solo physician to join Dermatology Associates of Tallahassee from a self-established private practice. Dr. Backe was a distinguished major in Biology at the University of Virginia and received her medical degree from Mercer University in 2003. She has received numerous honors and awards including: “Best Dermatologist in South Georgia,” in 2013, 2014, & 2015. This award is determined by votes from readers of Valdosta Daily Times. In 2008, she received an award from the Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Grant Awards Program, and in 2002, she was named an American Medical Association Foundation Rock Sleyster Memorial Scholar.
Dr. Backe completed her internship in internal medicine at University of Tennessee College of Medicine—Chattanooga Unit, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and completed her residency in dermatology at University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Backe is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and The Women’s Dermatologic Society.
In addition to medical and surgical dermatology, Dr. Backe has particular interests in patch testing and facial rejuvenation and restoration using a variety of fillers and neuromodulators. She has hands on experience with some the world’s best cosmetic injectors and specializes in using the Golden Ratio to “BeautiPHl” patients. She is also pleased to offer virtually painless laser hair removal for all skin types, laser tattoo removal, laser resurfacing using both CO2 and erbium lasers, and treatment of vascular lesions using the VBeam Perfecta™, long pulse Nd:YAG, and IPL.
Dr. Backe has published extensively and has presented her research at numerous regional and national meetings, including The American Academy of Dermatology, The American Society of Dermopathology, The Intermountain Dermatology Society, and The Utah Dermatological Society.
